What is May Thurner Syndrome?

May Thurner Syndrome (MTS), also known as Iliac Vein Compression Syndrome, is a condition that causes the left iliac vein in your pelvis to narrow because of pressure from the right iliac artery.

It primarily affects women between the ages of 20 and 45.

Typically, symptoms of May Thurner Syndrome begin as mild which are worse in the left leg.

Symptoms may include fatigue, body aches, and swelling in the leg. Pelvic pain, groin pain, and lower back pain, more noticeable on the left side may also be present.
